Update

This isn`t a proper post, just some random thoughts thrown together.

Firstly, here`s the pic of me finishing the Two Oceans. I know I`ve probably killed the subject already but who cares, I`m terribly proud of it!


I have actually done another 21km after the Two Oceans. It was the Slow Mag Half Marathon, hosted by Benoni Northerns. The start was literally 1km from our place and I walked there! Pretty convenient, no? The race wasn`t too bad and I ended up doing my Personal Best (or PB as we refer to it in the trade) of 2:06:15. Fantastic.


The other news on this side is that we have finally found season 1 of Dexter. I missed the first few episodes on tv and didn`t want to get into it halfway. So we haven`t watched ONE episode. That`s until yesterday. I found seasons 1-3 in a MR Video, not too far from us. So yesterday Hayley and I settled in and watched the first 3 episodes (it would`ve been 6 but some idiot got to Season 1 Disk 2 before I could). It is AWESOME! So excited that we can finally watch it. I reckon it`s gonna become our Sunday ritual. Oh that and Hayley`s world famous chicken curry. Oh and a good bottle of wine.


We are besotted by Gordon Ramsay and especially his show Kitchen Nightmares. We PVR every single episode and never miss one. A lot of people dislike Gordon but damnit the man is good at what he does and let`s be honest, not many people can drop the F-Bomb like Gordon can. The show makes for great tv and Gordon is most certainly no shrinking violet, fights galore! Seeing as Channel 180 screens an episode every weeknight at 20:30, we are very, very happy campers.


Otherwise things are ok here. Winter is closing in very quickly but we`re ok with that. Give me some red wine, a couch, a blanket and some good tv & this boytjie is happy.

Friday 30 April will be the 7th anniversary of my Mom`s passing. Even after all these years the 30th April still gets to me. When the calender turns to April, I already look towards the 30th with dread. I know it`s just a day but it`s THE day. THE day where I lost my Mom, my best friend for so long. The one person who made my childhood so much easier than it should have been. I suppose it also gives me time to reflect on my Mom and how fortunate I was to have her.

She really was an Angel even before she became one 7 years ago.

TV, the good and the not so good (part deux) and UPDATE

Ok, idiot that I am I actually left my favourite show of all time off the list. That show is Damages. Hayley and I were absolutely rivetted by it and we cannot wait for season 2 to start.

It`s an amazing show, with very clever writing and awesome performances by Glenn Close and my own personal favourite Rose Byrne.

UPDATE ON THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE RUNNING GOLFER

I started a new job on Tuesday and it has been going pretty well. That`s the reason why I have been so scarce lately. I leave at 06:00 in the morning and only get home around 19:00, so obviously blogging has been taking a backseat. I will definitely keep the blog going but I`m afraid the every day updates will be put on hold for a bit.

I`m sorry for not being able to visit all your blogs as often as I used too. I`ll try my best to pop in every now and again.

Well, I have a pretty busy Sunday ahead of me, so I`m off! Adios and God bless!

TV, the good and the not so good

As you know, Hayley and I absolutely love our tv. We literally plan our evenings around the tv schedule. We are fortunate enough to have satelite and also a PVR (Tevo y`all). So we tend to either watch everything or tape everything.

Tv goes through good and bad times here in SA. We tend to have all the best shows on at the same time. Then we`ll go a few months with hardly anything to watch.

Fortunately now is a good time with lots of awesome shows on. We have The Amazing Race, Prison Break 4 and True Blood on Tuesdays; American Idol and The Mentalist on Wednesdays; American Idol and Fringe on Thursdays and The Office, Eli Stone, The Bachelor on Fridays. Saturdays are for sport as are most Sundays but we also have South African Idol on Sundays with the results shows on Mondays. I`m very embarrassed most of the time but we do have some talent, sometime....

This brings me to my favourite shows and my least favourites. Here is a list of my all time favourites and least favourites. A lot of my least favourites started of as favourites but then progressively got worse until I hated them.

favourite new show

Just a quick post this time. I watched the pilot of Eli Stone a few days ago and I loved it immediatley. A show with soul stands out from the crowd and this show has soul. I think Johnny Lee Miller does a sterling job and I cannot wait to see where the shows takes us.

Nice to see clever shows take over from the train wrecks like Greys and prison break (both of which used to be my faves until they became crap).

So, the best shows at the moment? Californication, Eli Stone and Friday Night Lights. Any coincidence that they all have "soul"....
